ALVA DEES
Funeral services for Alva Dees, 91, Christopher, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Gilbert Funeral Home, Christopher. The Rev. Marion Burzynski will officiate. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery, Christopher. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Dees died at 5:30 a.m Thursday in Miners Hospital, Christopher. He was a retired Christopher businessman. He owned and operated the Christopher Flour Mill in the early 1920s and later the Dees Feed Store. He was born Dec. 11, 1881, in Franklin County to Frank and Melissa Crawford Dees. His wife, the former Myrtle B. Rumley, died in 1971. A son five brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Myrl Van Zandt; Christopher; a son, Jay J., Decatur; and nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
