As a child Jack enjoyed listening to his favorite radio program called "Johnny Jump up Club" As a teenager when Jack wasn't tinkering with electronics and cars, he and his best friend Cliff Stiles always played practical jokes on others.
Jack joined the Navy in 1947 and witnessed action in service during the Korean War as a Radio Operator on the Tanker USS Navasota. While in the Nave Jack trained as a boxer and competed in boxing matches on his ship. He was honorably discharged from service in 1954.
In 1951, Jack married the love of his life Shirley Mae LeRoy. He was a family man and in addition to new stepson Darryl Wilkins, Jack and Shirley would welcome three more children, John Jr., Ricky, and Susan.
Jack was a Master Mason and throughout his adult life was actively involved in Shrine's, Scottish Rite, Elks Lodge, DeMolay, Jobs Daughters and Rainbow Girls. He enjoyed watching old movies (especially satire comedies), telling stories, fishing and hunting, But for Jack the greatest joy, was spending time with his family and friends.
