She and her family moved to Liberal in 1959 where they operated Carlson Paint and Wallpaper Store for many years. She taught tole painting classes there.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship and served as deaconess and on the First Christian Church Board. She was also active in the Southwest Medical Center Auxiliary and Hobby Club. She and Roy were long-time members of the Do-Si-Do Square Dance Club.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Rodney Carlson.
