Sydney Glimp Weems, 94, a resident of Rockdale for the past 51 years, died Monday, Nov. 14 2005 in Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. John Warren officiating. Burial will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.
Ms. Weems was born March 29, 1911 in Rusk to Sidney Meredith and Ella (Jones) Meredith.
She worked in the office for Sears in Austin, then worked for the City of Rockdale.
She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Rockdale. She also attended Rockdale Senior Citizens and was a volunteer at MARC Center in Rockdale.
Ms. Weems was preceded in death by parents; four brothers, Coleman, Miller, Albert and John; two sisters, Vivian and Catherine.
Survivors include son, Sidney E. Sheets of Montgomery; daughter, Faye Crane of Minerva; step-daughter, Jane Meredith of Arlington; sister, Mary Ella Bolton of Rusk; nine grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Earl Crane, Keith Crane, David Glynn, Elbert Page, Ty Weidemeyer and Jimmy Cox.
