A newborn infant found in a trash bin at a Southside apartment complex Saturday. A man searching through trash bins for cans shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday April 4th discovered the body of a newborn infant, police spokesman said the body was discovered inside a cardboard box in a dumpster at the Villa Crest Apartments, 5820 S Villa Ave. The man who found the baby took the body to the apartment office were employees called police. The body was thought to be that of a white newborn female. The baby appeared to have been born recently because the umbilical cord was still attached. The body was taken to the medical examiner for determination of cause of death. The police are trying to locate the mother.
