Jeffery Michael Giles, 50, Minneapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. He was born July 28, 1963 in St. Joseph, MO to William and Joan (Chrisman) Giles.

He was a 1981 graduate of Maysville High School and a 1987 graduate of Missouri State. Coach Giles was employed by U.S.D. 239 in 1987 where he was still coaching and teaching. He was united in marriage with Dina Stanley on July 1, 1989. He was the head high school football coach, junior and senior high head wrestling coach, and he coached junior and senior high track all at the Minneapolis Junior Senior High School. He was the recipient of the first Officials Sportsmanship Coach of the Year in 2002 and he was also awarded 3-2-1 A Coach of the Year that same year. Coach Giles was also the founder of the Ottawa County Wrestling Club. He was more than a coach; he was a mentor to so many students and adults. Coach Giles will leave a legacy and his walk as a Christian man will never be forgotten.

He was an active member of the First Covenant Church in Salina.

Survivors include his wife Dina; daughters Emma, Lucy, and Caroline; parents William and Joan Giles; brothers David and Shannon Giles; sister Tracy Bennett and her husband John; and his father and mother-in-law Delbert and Deanna Stanley.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 15 at the First Covenant Church, 2625 E. Magnolia, Salina. Burial will be in Bennington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis; the family will not be present. The family kindly suggests no flowers and ask that memorials be given for the Giles girls college education or the First Covenant Church and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Avenue, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
