Francis Earl (Frank) Aikey, 74, a family man, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, of Greenville, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Hunt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Family Fellowship Church at 1:00 p.m., Saturday with Rev. Paul Blue officiating. A military graveside with full honors will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Frank was born February 23, 1939 in Mifflinburg, PA to Aaron Koch Aikey and Sabra Adeline Catherman. He married Elaine Downing on August 1, 1980 in Wylie. Frank served his country proudly for 20 years, in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper with 82nd Airborne and 173rd Airborne Brigade. He served during the Vietnam War where he earned the Purple Heart Award. He was a member of Family Fellowship. At age 70 he accepted the Lord into his heart, it is never too late. He was active in the American Legion, VFW, and DAV. He had a great love of the outdoors, where he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting.

Frank is survived by his wife, Elaine Aikey of Greenville; children, Debra Thompson and husband, Patrick of Southmayd, Terry Aikey of Casper, WY, Sandy Duhon and husband, Richard of Emory, Daniel Aikey of Lewistown, PA, Brenda Gomez and husband, Robert of Oklahoma City, Lisa Williams and husband, Mark of Sacramento, CA, Carl Sutherby and wife, Debbie of Blue Ridge, Greg Sutherby and wife Angela of Farmersville, Becky Gonzalez and husband, Gustavo of Arlington; brothers, James William Aikey of Selinsgrove, PA, Guy M. Aikey and wife Shirley of Mifflinburg, PA; sister, Helen Sauers of Mifflinburg, PA; many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth Aikey, Gordon Aikey; and sister, Bertha Napp.
