The fifth of the nine children of Marmaduke Gwynne (1691–1769), gentleman, and his wife, Sarah (1695–1769/70), daughter of Daniel Evans and his wife, Mary.
In 1749, she married Church of England clergyman and one of the founders of Methodism, Rev. Charles Wesley.
She died at her home in Marylebone and was buried in the churchyard of the parish church on 4 January 1823.
