Viola Petersen was born in New York.

She married Otto Burmeister, and the couple lived in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1930, Otto was working as a stock clerk for a motor company, and Viola was at home, caring for their son, Stanley, who was 1 year 7 months old at the time of the US Census.

Viola's mother, Jensine Petsersen, lived at 2815 S. 17th St. in Omaha from at least 1935 through 1940. Viola and her baby died in late December, 1934, and within a few weeks, Otto died, too. Little Stanley went to live in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1935, but by census time, 1940, 11 year-old Stanley was living with his widowed grandmother, Jensine, and his 34 year old aunt, Doris Petersen, at their home on S. 17th St.

Viola, Otto, Stanley and the baby are buried in Springwell Cemtery, in Omaha, NE.
