Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Medford-Peden Funeral Home in Marietta, with Hoyt Powell officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Hills Memory Gardens cemetery in Acworth.
A Talking Rock native
Mr. Boyd served in the Navy during World War II. He co-owned and operated Powell and Boyd Barber Shop in Marietta for more than 30 years. Mr. Boyd was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Samuel L. Lawrence Masonic Lodge and Austin Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, James E. Boyd Jr. of Hanford, Calif.; one daughter, Carol B. Naffziger of Marietta; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and one nephew and one niece.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
