On January 11, 1908, she married Lieut. Henry E. Mitchell, Third United States Cavalry, in a military wedding at Cullum Memorial Hall at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. They were the parents of one child, Elizabeth Devin Mitchell. On October 6, 1915, she obtained a divorce for lack of support in Reno, Nevada. On January 29, 1916 as Mrs. Florence Braden Mitchell, she married Daniel Isom Sultan at the home of her parents in Highland Falls, New York.

Florence Braden Mitchell Sultan died on Monday, November 4, 1958 at Garfield Hospital after an operation. She was the widow of Daniel I. Sultan, a former District Commissioner who died in 1947. He was Engineer Commissioner from 1934 to 1938 and previously had been resident member in the District of Columbia on the Board of Engineers for Rivers and Harbors. She was a resident of 2100 Connecticut Avenue Northwest. Survivors included two daughters, Mrs. Marshall R. Gray of Arlington and Mrs. Perry B. Hackett of Japan. Services were held at the Military Academy, West Point, New York.
