Modene Shirley, Age 91, Of Marshall, MI, Died Monday, January 13, 2014, at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. Modene was born on December 23, 1922, in Marshall, Arkansas, the daughter of Grayson and Pearl (Scarlett) White. She was a 1941 graduate of Marshall Arkansas High School. In Angola, Indiana, on August 5, 1955, she was united in marriage to Guffery F. Shirley who survives. Modene retired from Progressive Dynamics in 1987 after 15 years of service. She was employed previously at Corning Glass in Albion, MI for 20 plus years. She loved to play cards with her best friend Mary and loved to garden raising vegetables and growing flowers. Surviving is a son, U. Frank Shirley of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Robert F. Shirley of Santa Cruz, CA, Scarlett A. Shirley of Grand Rapids, MI, Taylor N. Shirley of Chesterfield, VA; a great granddaughter, Modene Shirley of Santa Cruz, CA. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert H. McCasland in 1963. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2014, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
