Saul "El Fili" Aguilar of Santa Barbara, California passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013. Saul was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Son of Francisco Aguilar and Juana Cisneros Zavala, Saul was born on November 28, 1952 in Zacapu, Michoacan, Mexico. Saul spent most of his childhood in Mexico City and Tijuana until moving to Santa Barbara in1969.
Saul had a magnetic personality that people were drawn to. He had a big heart, great sense of humor and charm that brought happiness to those around him. He enjoyed working on and restoring cars and was a talented musician, but more than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family. Saul is survived by his seven children Juanita Aguilar-Garcia, Saul Aguilar Jr., Arasely Aguilar, Rogelio Aguilar, Felix Aguilar, Maricela Aguilar and Lourdes Aguilar; his five siblings Bulmaro Zavala, Erendira Zavala, Maria Ochoa, Carolina Almanza and Camila Coria and his four grandchildren, Anthony, William, Lucas and Nicolás. Saul was a proud father and loved his children deeply. Saul is also survived by his partner Juanita Garcia Zambrano who cared for Saul in his final years.
The Rosary Service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, 7:30 pm, at Our Lady of Sorrows and the Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, July 19, 10:00 am, also at OLS, followed by the graveside service at Calvary Cemetery.
