Sarah E. Franklin, 99, of Walnut Bottom, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born August 5, 1914 in Shippensburg, Cumberland County. Sarah was a daughter of the late Harry and Bertha Smith McElwee.

She was a member of the Carlisle Church of Christ. Sarah worked with Day Nursing in the Shippensburg area and also for the former Newville Shoe Company.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Richard Franklin. Two brothers and four sisters are also deceased.

Sarah is survived by two sons, Roy M. Franklin and his wife Bonnie of Newville, and Harry C. Franklin of Mt. Holly Springs, one daughter, Marjorie E. Tarner of Walnut Bottom, three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 20, 2014 in the Carlisle Church of Christ at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Minister Tony Tarole. Burial will be in Newville Cemetery. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg.
