Mrs. Amelia Secord Duvall A woman who through her residence of upwards of 50 years, endeared herself to all in the community, passed away at her home on Friday, August 26, 1927, in the person of Mrs. Amelia Secord Duvall, widow of James A. Duvall, who passed away on April 3 last. The late Mrs. Duvall, whose maiden name was Amelia Secord, was born at Jordan Station, Lincoln County, Ontario, 78 years ago, a daughter of the late Solomon Secord. She was married to Mr. Duvall at the age of 20, and spent almost all her married life here, living in Dunnville for a short time. She was an ideal wife and mother, a friend to the poor and needy, and her home was ever open to any call for the good of the community. She was a life-long member of the Methodist Church and Ladies' Aid, and was ever interested in promoting the cause of Her Saviour. Mrs. Duvall had been an invalid since October last, when she broke her arm, since which time she gradually failed despite the best possible care and attention. She leaves to mourn her loss two sons and one daughter, Frank N. Duvall of Chelsea, Quebec, and J. W. Duvall at home, and Mrs. A. C. Jardine, Newington; also two sisters and two brothers - Mrs. M. Knox and Mrs. T. Hanes, Jordon Station; Hilliard Secord of Newington, and W. H. Secord or Toronto, and five grandchildren to all of whom the deepest sympathy is extended. The funeral took place on Monday, from her late residence to Emmanuel Church and Hillcrest Cemetery and was very largely attended. Officiating at the Service were Rev. George C. Wood, Chelsea, Ontario, a former pastor and personal friend; Revs. Thomas Meredith Ashton and H. B. Metcalfe of Newington, and Rev. M. Wood, who preached the sermon, took as his text "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints". The pallbearers were R. Smith, B. Rombough, W. Reddick, Ryerson Waldriff, W. J. Milross, and P. J. McEwan. Among relatives present from a distance were Mr. & Mrs. W. H. Secord and Frank Secord of Toronto; Mrs. C. O. McGill, Mountain; Mr. & Mrs. Jack Beamish and Leslie of Ottawa; Mrs. George E. Fyke, Mr. & Mrs. C. P. Bowman, Mr. & Mrs. R. L. Silmser, Cornwall. The floral offerings included Pillow - Mr. & Mrs. A.
