Amy, formerly of Gary, died Tuesday at Bloomington Convalescent Center. She was the daughter of James Monroe and Emma Rosella Eaton McCarty. She received a bachelor's degree from Valparaiso University and was a substitute school teacher in Gary. She was a Sunday school teacher, a past president of the 43rd Avenue Presbyterian Church Women's Association and a former member of the Christ Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son, James of Martinsville; and two grandsons, James and Matthew both of Martinsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin L. Baird in 1971; two sisters and five brothers.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Moeller Funeral Home in Valparaiso with the Rev. Dennis Norman officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until services Saturday at the funeral home.
Allen Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
