DO NOT TAKE MY PHOTOS OFF OF MY ANCESTRY TREE AND ADD THEM TO MY FIND A GRAVE MEMORIAL THAT I CREATED

My Paternal Grandmother.

Her death certificate listed her parents as Jim Holbert and Dorthy Denham. The informant was her daughter Georgia Thomas.

It was the custom in Lake Mississippi that white bodies were buried in the front section of the Lake Cemetery and black bodies were buried at the back section of the cemetery. My grandfather who was white is buried in the front of the cemetery and my grandmother, her sister Jane and their children all are buried in the back section of the cemetery.

Dote was her nickname. She was Mama Dote to her family.

My Grandmother and Grandfather had several children but never married. My grandfather was White and my grandmother was Black.

Mama Dote first child was by Amos Moore. The rest of her children was by John Thomas Burge.

Mama Dote had a sister by the name of Jane who also had several children by John Thomas Burge. She also had a sister by the name of Sealey Denham.

The results of my DNA testing shows that my grandmother's ancestors came from Cameroon and the Congo River Basin region. Many slaves from the coastal regions of Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea ended up in Maryland, Virginia and South Carolina.
