MRS. LUCY MAE JACKSON; was born on May 7,1910 in St. Mary's County (St. Inigoes), Maryland to Charles Milburn and the late Hattie Milburn. On Wednesday, December 24,1975 at 6:50 P.M., GOD silently called Lucy into Eternal Rest.
Lucy attended The Public Schools in St. Mary's County and Baltimore, Maryland- Douglass High School.
On January 31,1932, Mrs. Jackson was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Reverend Theodore C. Jackson Sr., the marriage ceremony performed by Reverend N.B. Carrington, then Pastor of The Mt. Olive M.E. Church, Catonsville, Maryland. Their union was blessed with two sons.
Mrs. Jackson, endeared herself in the hearts of all who knew her so much so that everybody adopted her as a mother, and because of her affection for people she was given the name of "Momma Lucy". She was one who liked to "do things" on her own. Momma Lucy was independent, even in her final hours she would try to help herself, although she was unable because of her condition,
Momma Lucy was a lover of flowers and for a long time, she was employed by The Sherwood Forest Gardens, where some of the most beautiful flowers of the nation were grown and from this love of flowers she organized the Flower Circle and remained its President until her death.
As folks are ordained to the Ministry by GOD, so was Momma Lucy ordained by GOD to be a Minister's wife, possessing many wonderful characteristics; patience, faith, love and devotion. She was a Minister's wife who shared the many responsibilities of her late husband and Pastor; when the Church was in its infancy, she worked long hours on her job, coming home only on the week-ends, giving her hard-earned money to support the financial needs of the Church whenever necessary. She worked side by side with members of the Church, President or a member of the many organizations of the Church, President of The Flowers Circle; Spiritual Adviser of the Courtesy Guild; President of the Busy Bees; Supervisor of the Junior and Young Adult Ushers Board; Member of the Golden Years Guild; Woman's Council; Missionaries; Senior Choir and The Sick Members Committee. Momma Lucy was a Honorary Member of all The Organization of The Church.
Mrs. Jackson was a member of The Mount Olive Beneficial Society and a former member of The Beacan Chapter of the Order of The Eastern Star.
Mrs. Jackson's favorite song were "I Can Put My Trust In Jesus"; "Sweet Hour of Prayer"; "Through It All".
