LEXINGTON - MEADE, N. Mitchell

LEXINGTON - MEADE, N. Mitchell, retired Circuit Judge, 77, husband of Linda Wilson Meade, died Wed., Dec. 22, 2004. Born in Letcher County, he was the son of Ellis Meade, deceased, and Nancy Gibson Meade of Lexington. Besides his wife and mother, survivors include his daughter, Dr. Nancy M. McCray, and two grandchildren, Michael and Megan McCray of Flower Mound, TX; two sisters, Marlene Peyton and Lorraine (Jim) Harrison; a brother, Fred (Sue) Meade; nephews, Gary and David; nieces, Teresa and Susan. His brother, Ray (Lil) Meade, died in 2002. A funeral service in celebration of Judge Meade's life will be held at 11 am Fri. at Central Christian Church, with the Honorable Herb Sledd, Judge Joe Bouvier, and Dr. Harold Dorsey officiating. Burial services will be at the Lexington Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Hon. Glen Bagby, Mr. Carlos Delgado, Mr. Tom Jones, Judge Pam Goodwine, Dr. Don Feltner, Hon. Larry Roberts, Hon. Pat Malloy, and Mr. Jeff Strong. Honorary pallbearers are Hon. Arthur L. Brooks, Hon. Joseph E. Johnson, III, Justice James E. Keller, Hon. William A. Watson, Mr. Al Smith, Dr. John Cronin, Dr. Keith Johnston, Mr. Albert R. Christian, Mr. Gene Walls, Mr. Harold H. Mullis, Ms. Juanita Stollings, current and retired Fayette Circuit Court Judges, and District Court Judges. The family prefers and requests contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 1941 Bishop Lane, Suite 110, Louisville, KY, 40218, the American Cancer Society, 160 Moore Drive, Suite 201, Lex., KY 40503, or the Alzheimer's Association, Lexington/Bluegrass Chapter, 836 Euclid Ave. Suite 322, Lexington, KY 40502. To honor Judge Meade's passion for education, donations can be made to the E.O. Robinson Mountain Fund c/o Juanita Stollings, 425 Holiday Road, Lexington, KY 40502 for scholarships for students from the eastern Kentucky region.
