Margaret Alys "Margy" Jett Corson
1928 - 2013

Margy was born in Gering, Nebraska, on October 25, 1928, to Harrison Benjamin and Laura Margaret Jett. She lived most of her life in Kansas City, Kansas, until moving to Billings in 1996 and to Missoula in 2013. After high school in Kansas City, Margy attended Kansas State University until marrying Don in September 1948. She lacked one semester to finish her degree in home economics and was fond of saying it was because Don, in the Navy and eager to marry, advanced their wedding date three times. She was the quintessential homemaker and created an idyllic home environment for her family. Her house sparkled. She played and read with her children. She sang while she worked. And each day, she gathered her family around the dinner table for carefully prepared meals that represented every food group. In the Kansas City community, Margy enjoyed volunteering through Junior League and played a number of roles in its children's theater productions. Watching plays with grade school classes from all over the city, Scott and JoAnn particularly remember her role as Storyteller, when she would appear on stage before each scene to narrate the story. China-doll beautiful and dressed in clouds of glittered pink netting, she was magic! In Billings, people who knew Don and Margy, will remember their incredible devotion to each other. Until Don's Alzheimer's disease separated them toward the end of his life, they were together constantly. Always, Don cared for Margy as if she were a princess, but as his personal needs intensified, the princess took off her white gloves and their nurturing roles reversed. Never was her personal strength more apparent. Scott and JoAnn, recognizing that children don't choose their parents, have long been thankful they were born to Don and Margy. Margaret Alys Jett Corson passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013, of natural causes. She was 85.

She was predeceased by her adoring husband of 58 years, Donald Harley Corson Jr. She is survived by her son, Scott Corson (Kimberly) of Walker, MN; daughter, JoAnn Corson Bacheller of Missoula, MT; granddaughters: Anna Daron Bacheller and Bridget and Marilyn Corson; and her brother, Harry Joe Jett (Ann) of Salina, KS. Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary in Billings is in charge of arrangements.
