John K. Eccles Dies -- CRASH CLAIMS THIRD LIFE -- A two-car crash on Interstate 71 in Ashland County last Saturday claimed its third victim today with the death in Ashland Samaritan Hospital of John Kent Eccles, 57, Cairns road. The latest victim’s wife, Mrs. Edith Wilcox Eccles, 60 and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sherrill Mayes Eccles, 29, of 414 Henry Street, were killed in the crash. Kent Eugene Eccles, 36, husband of Sherrill, and only survivor in the Eccles car, was reported in fair condition today at General Hospital. All four occupants of the car, driven by the younger Eccles, were thrown from the tumbling auto. Ashland post, state highway patrolman said Eccles pulled into the left passing lane and was struck from the rear by a car driven by Clarence Manley, 29, of Amherst. Manley was treated for shock at the Ashland hospital and released. The elder Eccles was born in Mt. Gilead, October 12, 1909 and lived in Mansfield most of his life. He had been associated with the Westinghouse for 36 years and was member of local 711, IUE, AFL-CIO, and the Westinghouse Veterans Association. Mr. Eccles attended First Assembly of God Church. In addition to the son who was injured in the accident, Mr. Eccles is survived by a second son, the Rev. William R Eccles of Oklahoma City; two brothers, E. Gail Eccles, 1285 Lucas Road, and Harold Leo Eccles,, 392 Willowood Drive; also three grand-children. Triple funeral services for the accident victims will be held Thursday at 3 p. m. at the J. H. Finefrock and Sons Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Clinton Vanzant, pastor of First Assembly of God, and the Rev. William J. Willard, pastor of First Open Bible Church. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p. m. today. [Mansfield News Journal: 08 June 1966, p. 3]
