She is best remembered as the benevolent girlfriend of Sheriff Andy Taylor in the early TV episodes of "The Andy Griffith Show." At the peak of her career, she married actor Ryan O'Neal in April 1963, and together they had two children, Tatum and Griffin O'Neal. They divorced in February of 1967.
