FRANKLIN - Clare Parker Westbrook Councill died Sept. 19, 2005, at her home on Clay Street, Franklin, Va. She was born in Courtland, Va., on Nov. 14, 1924, the daughter of Edwin P. and Eunice Williams Westbrook. She was married to Warren C. Councill, who survives her, for 60 years. Two sons were born of their marriage, George E. Councill of Louisville, Ky., and W. Parker Councill of Smithfield, Va., both of whom survive. Mrs. Councill is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Mary Combs Councill and Sandra Marks Councill; a sister, Eunice W. Jones; a granddaughter, Courtney Westbrook Councill; three grandsons, George E. Councill Jr., Peter Westbrook Councill and Warren Marks Gillette Councill. A sister, Mary Elizabeth W. Smith, and a brother, Edwin P. Westbrook Jr., preceded her in death. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. James H. Hyatt officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence. They suggest that any memorials be made to the Franklin Congregational Christian Church, 412 N. High St., Franklin, VA 23851. Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
