Arch Caruthers, 80, of Obion died Aug. 28, 2008, at Union City Manor Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Ararat Cemetery near Troy, with the Rev. Eddie Powell officiating.Friends may call at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy Saturday from 9 a.m. until time to go to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Fluty, Clifford Barker, Gary Southerland, Teddy Hatley, Jackie Mayo and Kelly Bruner. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Holloway and Tony Bullion.

He was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Meridian, Miss., son of the late Sam and Mable (Stovall) Caruthers. He married the former Sue (Ross) Allen Oct. 22, 1994. She survives.

He was a retired truck driver for the former Forcum-Lannom Co. and was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a member of Hornbeak Baptist Church.

Survivors also include his son, Arch and Gina Caruthers Jr. of Union City; two daughters and his son-in-law, Paula and Robert Hendrix of Obion and Mary Beth Caruthers of Memphis; three grandchildren, Nick Hendrix of Obion, Brooks Lyle of Martin and Chantel Montgomery of Troy; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Katherine and Joe Millard of Dallas; his stepson and his wife, Larry and Paulette Allen of Kenton; his stepdaughter and her husband, Jennifer and Richard Walley of Hornbeak; two step-granddaughters, Mitzi Gomes and Alayna Thompson, both of Kenton; two step-grandsons, Ty Walley and Shane Walley, both of Hornbeak; two step-great-grandsons, Ray Gomes and Shea Gomes, both of Kenton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ruth (Moran) Caruthers, and his sister and two brothers.
