Miriam Matson Babbitt

Miriam Matson Babbitt was reunited in Heaven with her husband of 46 years, Allen Joel Babbitt, on December 20, 2013, at the age of 90 years.
"Mimi" was born in San Antonio, TX on September 10, 1923.
She is now at peace, in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who she fervently served throughout her life. She never went anywhere without her Bible in hand. When asked how many times she had read through the Bible, she would answer that it was over sixty. All who knew her were inspired by her commitment to her Lord and to the Castle Hills First Baptist Church, in San Antonio. She was an accomplished pianist, playing in church since a young teen. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Mimi never met a stranger, whether it be a person or an animal. She was so friendly, that within five minutes of your first meeting, she might have learned your entire life history. She rarely checked out at a store without giving the cashier a compliment and asking how they were doing. She never talked about herself, rather, she wanted to know how you were doing. Her favorite pastime was to feed her deer, which she invited to make their home on her property. It was not uncommon for as many as seventy or more deer to attend the banquet of corn she would spread for them. Some would eat directly from her hand. She had names for most of them, and would often nurse an injured deer back to health. Likewise, she could never walk past a dog without offering a greeting and stopping to pet it.
Mimi loved to travel and enjoy the beauty of God's flowers and mountains. She traveled all over the world. She especially loved to vacation in Colorado, with her husband or son and family, anytime there was an opportunity.
Miriam is predeceased by her beloved husband Allen.
She is survived by her son, Gerald Allen Babbitt, and wife, Cheryl, of Mountain City; her two grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Karen Babbitt Brown, and her husband Chris, of San Antonio; and Ryan Allen Babbitt, who is currently relocating to Tokyo, Japan. Other survivors include many dearly loved nieces and nephews, from the Matson and Babbitt families.
Services will be held at Harrell Funeral Home, in Kyle, TX, on Friday, December 27. Visitation at 10:00 AM, followed by a chapel service at 11:00 AM, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Harold O'Chester. Graveside services will take place at 3:00 PM, at Pipe Creek Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. George Harris officiating.
Pall Bearers are Chris Brown, James Builta, James Ross Builta, Samuel Builta, Jack Counce, and Dennis Nollkamper.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
