Author, botanist, veteran of the War of 1812. His works appear in he American Sportsman, the American Naturalist, the Texas Almanac, the Proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences, and Choctaw Traditions about Their Settlement in Mississippi and the Origin of Their Mounds, which was published by the Mississippi Historical Society, as well as numerous newspapers. Lincecum's paper on the agricultural ant in the Journal of the Linnaean Society of London in 1862 was sponsored by Charles Darwin .
