Mary Elizabeth was born to Thomas Marion Rabon (B:1839 D:1913) and Mary Ann (Thurman) Rabon (B:July 17, 1833 D:August 12, 1863). Thomas Marion Rabon and Mary Ann Thurman were married 7 August 1856. Mary Ann Thurman's parents were Berry Thurman and Willie Annn (Davis) Thurman.
Mary Elizabeth Melton's sister Martha D. Rabon died as an infant. William D. Rabon was her brother.

Mary Elizabeth (Bettie) Rabon Melton was the mother of sixteen (16) children:
William Thomas Melton (b.1876-d.1950), Alfred Roscoe Melton (b.February 28,1878-d.July 12,1957), Robert Lee Melton (b.June 24,1879-d.March 24,1955), Samuel Camel Melton (b.October 29,1880-d.January 20,1950), Laura C. (Melton) Holt (b.November 3,1885-d.November 25,1916), Dora Sidney (Melton) Booher (b.1886-d.1968), Elliott Harrison Melton (b.November 2,1887-d.October 18,1953), Johnnie W. Melton (b.July 19,1889-d.May 10,1963), Nannie Nora (Melton) Hummell (b.September 18,1892-d.September 17,1976), Lola F. (Melton) Bullock (b.November 17,1893-d.October 19, 1952)
Morna (Melton) Vaughn (b.April 25,1895-d.January 25,1936),
Gilbert Taylor Melton (b.January 24,1898-d.February 22,1972), Mary A. Melton (b.January 5,1884-d.October 24,1886), she is buried in the St. Johns Cemetery. Mary died of infection caused by a bite from a rat. Charlie Melton (b.January 7,1882-d.May 7,1898), he died from a fall. Charlie is buried in the St. Johns Cemetery.
Kittie married Walter Enoch of Smith County, Tennessee on August 13, 1925. She had four sons and one daughter. Wilma Jean drowned in Clay County in 1952 and is buried in the Chowning Cemetery in East Clay County.
