Musician. Born Louis Charles Stevenson in Dallas, Texas, he was a guitarist songwriter, best known for working in a genre called progressive country music. In his brief career he recorded six albums with hits such as "A Little Bit of Understanding," "Shambala," and the classic single "My Maria" (1973), which was covered by country artists Brooks and Dunn in 1996. He died while undergoing heart valve surgery at the age of 38.
