C. C. Bridger, Sr., died in New Orleans at 1:50 a.m., November 30, 1925.
Mr. Bridger has been in ill health for some weeks and recently returned from New Orleans, where he had gone for medical advice, to get his business affairs arranged before undergoing an operation. Having made all arrangements possible to leave his estate in such condition that its settlement would be more a matter of form in case of his demise.
Mr. Bridger returned to the home of his son, Dr. P. R. Bridger of New Orleans to enter the Presbyterian Hospital of that place, being accompanied by his wife and daughter, Mrs. H. W. Seal, and her husband, H. W. Seal. But his condition grew worse and other members of the family were advised that the crisis was approaching, so that his last days were spent amidst his immediate family — his wife, and daughters, Mrs. W. R. Bush of Clarks and Mrs. Hugh W. Seal of Columbia, and his sons, Dr. P. R. Bridger of New Orleans, and A. D. Bridger of Columbia, being with him at the time of his decease.
Mr. Bridger has been a resident of Caldwell Parish during the seventy years, six months and twenty-five days he spent in this world, having been born at Belle Vue plantation of May 5th, 1855. He moved to Columbia in 1882 and has since made this place his home. He was one of the parish's most respected and progressive citizens and a man of large business experience, and his passing is mourned by the entire community.
The remains arrived from New Orleans on Tuesday morning, December 1st, and funeral services were held at the Methodist Church, with the pastor, Rev. S. S. Bogan, in charge of the ceremonies. Columbia Masonic Lodge took charge at the grave and the beautiful Masonic burial ceremony was read as the remains of the Masonic brother were consigned to the tomb.
Many of the business houses of the city closed during the burial services and friends from all parts of Caldwell Parish crowded the local church in doing honor to Mr. Bridger's memory.
Beside the host of friends who mourn his departure, Mr. Bridger leaves his wife, Mrs. Lula Call Bridger, three daughters, Mrs. W. R. Bush of Clarks, Mrs. W. A. Mecom of Wisner and Mrs. H. W. Seal of Columbia, and four sons; Dr. P. R. Bridger of New Orleans, and A. D. Bridger, C. C. Bridger, Jr., and H. C. Bridger, of Columbia.
"So live, that when thy summons comes to join,
The innumerable caravan which moves
To that mysterious realm where each shall take
His chamber in the silent halls of death,
Thou go not like th quarry slave at night
Scourged to his dungeon, but sustained and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave

About him and lies down to pleasant dreams."

Mr. Bridger was born to the union of Ingadozier Cash Bridger, Sr. and Frances A. Brinton. He married Cornelia O. Fluitt on Dec. 18, 1879 and, after her death, Loula Call on Nov. 18, 1886, both in Caldwell Parish, LA.
