Vernalee (Royal) Bays, 79, of Bloomfield, passed away at 11:57 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at Lyons Health & Living Center. Born March 25, 1924 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Byron Everett and Goldie Irene (Lewis) Royal. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Linton. Survivors include her husband, Dexter Bays of Bloomfield; one daughter, Kebra Wolfe of Bloomfield; two sons, Kevin R. Bays of Bloomfield and Ricky Kyle Bays of Bloomfield; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Alpha Dexter Royal, Theond Clester (Wimpy) Royal, Argerie Baxter (Pete) Royal, and Dennis Lester Royal; one grandson; and her parents. Funeral service will be at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield at 10 a.m. on Saturday with Elder Daniel Labmann officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
