Texas Highway Patrolman Holloway Daniel Murphy, along with patrolman Edward Bryan Wheeler, was shot to death near Grapevine, Texas on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1934 by the criminals Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. He was 22 years old.

Patrolmen Murphy and Wheeler had stopped their motorcycles near Bonnie and Clyde's vehicle thinking that a motorist needed assistance. When they approached the vehicle, they were shot.

Patrolman Murphy began his career with the Texas Highway Patrol on September 18, 1933, and was stationed at Fort Worth, Texas.

He was the fiancee of Maree Tullis.
