He was a self-employed farmer and oil field worker. He graduated from Ellis High School in 1953. He was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church, a past parish council member, Knights of Columbus Third Degree member, all of Ellis.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Duane, Hays; three daughters, Phyllis LaShell, Ellis, Tammy Befort, Wichita; and Michelle Lang, Overland Park; one brother, Godfrey Lang, Wakeeney; three sisters, Bertha Lang, Stella Augustine and Rose Marie Augustine, all of Ellis; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John D Lang, Joseph G Lang and Clarence Lang; one sister, Catherine Wolf.
Services will be Thursday, Nov 14, 2002 at 10 am at St Mary's Catholic Church with Fr Larry Letourneau officiating; burial in St Mary's Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hays Medical Center or St Mary's Church. Wasinger Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
