Today we have lost another Beloved Pet.
We have Rescued Many pets over the years.
Today we lost Ruby Dew..
Hubby found her in the middle of a busy hiway on the way home from work about 6:30 in the morning, licking a candy wrapper, he stopped and ran her away from the road hoping to distract her and she would go home...He got back in the car and drove away only to see her again in the rear view mirror in the road at her "candy wrapper"! He went back and when he opened the door she jumped in. She was a beautiful red dashund with a lot of personality...She was very young and vet guessed her to be born early 2003...We had her spayed (as we do ALL females) for we are not into the puppy business...We rescue to SAVE lives Not create more Heartache.
As with a lot female dogs she packed on the weight from the surgery and got really low to the ground... and in the last year it was hard for her to get around so NO activity made a heavier girl...
Because of so many dogs we buy "TOTES" cut a door in the side and use pillows and cases for the mattress and every dog has its own "safe haven"and they KNOW their own bed....Ruby had an orange one! It was hard for her to get out of this last year so we put a low cushion in from on a non slip mat and she could lay from her tote and half way out on the cushion and see all going on...Then she required a food and water bowl on the cushion.. If she wanted something she would bark...then that became a "game" for her and became annoying at times
She was about 5 feet from Hubbys chair and she knew he would jump thru hoops for her...so her main commands were at him...He would get up and down all the times for her commands...When he was at works and she "demanded" from me sometimes I would ignore her...Then I would hear her teeth on the bowls and next thing she managed to SLING it to the floor to get my attention, She would even shove the food bowl onto the floor and look to see if we noticed and of we didn't respond you could hear the "teeth" on the bowl again where she drug it back onto the cushion then "sling it off" the cushion...She was very protective of her area and all knew to leave her "stuff" alone...She was very much a "Daddys Girl"
She got ill over the weekend and we took her to Vet Monday when she wasn't breathing good...We lost her during the night and Hubby found her this morning when he arose....
Ruby Dew we Love and will miss you always!
