Born on Feb. 10, 1916 in Valparaiso, she was the daughter of John Fitzgerald and Bridget Forkhen. On May 19, 1936 in East Chicago, she married Mox Grise Ruge, who preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1967.
She is survived by sons Mark Fitzgerald Ruge (wife Dawn) of Burns Harbor, James David Ruge of Beverly Shores and Thomas Robert Ruge (Elvira) of Monrovia, Ind.; daughter Kathy Ruge Scott of Fairport, New York; sister Ella Mae Casson of Oak Lawn, Ill; grandchildren Meg (Matt) McLaughlin, Kimberly Shaw, Pamela (Edward) Strudas, Gwen Lane, Mox A. Ruge, Dawn (Jorge) Hernandez, Suzanne (Mike)
Mahaffey, Jacqueline (Mike) Perkins, Jason Ruge, Celina (Russ) Clements, Ana Ruge-Rodela; great-grandchildren Keon, Jenna, Sabrina, Eric, Jessica, Evan, Edward, Mark, Emily, Nathan, Carley, Ariane, and Ethan Mox.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Andrew, John, Morris, Thomas and Joseph Fitzgerald and sisters Mary Glissman and Winifred Gast.
She was executive vice president and director of First State Bank of Porter. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Association of Artists and
Craftsmen of Porter County and a 50-year member of Delta Theta Tau sorority. She was a graduate of Valparaiso University.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Road, with Father James Meade officiating. Burial will be in Chesterton Cemetery. Visitation will be today, March 8, from 4 until 8 p.m., with a wake service at 4:30 p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517
