WOFFORD, Minnie Minnie Dunlap Fuller Wofford died on Thursday, August 13, 2009, surrounded by family in the Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tennessee. She is predeceased by her parents, Katharine Anderson Dunlap and Edgar Brown Dunlap of Gainesville, Georgia; her brother, James Anderson Dunlap, of Gainesville, Georgia; and her husband of 51 years, John Peters Fuller, of Johnson City. She is survived by: her husband, Dr. Charles Parker Wofford, of Johnson City; her brother, Edgar Brown Dunlap, Jr., of Gainesville, GA; her children, John Peters Fuller and his wife Nancy, of Athens, GA; Katharine ("Kitty") Fuller Simmons and her husband, Jennings, of Huntsville, AL; and Margaret ("Peggy") Fuller Jackson and her husband, Earl, of Marietta, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Elizabeth Lillian Fuller and her husband, Jason Gonzalez, of Athens, GA; and Helen Katharine ("Kitty") Jackson, of Marietta, GA. Other survivors include her great-grandchildren, Gus Gonzalez and Ezra Gonzalez, of Athens, GA; her step-children, John Charles Wofford and his wife Judy, of Linville, NC, and Duke Hall and his wife Kathy, of Johnson City; and Becky Hall, of Frankfort, KY; her step-grandsons Hunter Hall, of Johnson City, and John Parker Wofford, and his wife, Ellen, of Fort Mill, SC.; and her large extended family. Minnie was born in Gainsville, Georgia, on October 6, 1916. She graduated from Brenau College in Gainesville, and was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. After graduation, Minnie worked for Sen. Walter F. George in Washington, D.C., where she met John ("Jack") Fuller. Minnie and Jack were married at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church by Rev. Peter Marshall. She and and her husband moved to Elizabethton, Tennessee, in 1945, and were residents of Johnson City since 1963. Minnie was an active member of St. Johns Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry and Altar Guild. She was an avid tennis player until after the age of 80. Minnie also enjoyed golf, gardening, and swimming, and was known for her sweet nature. She was a member of the Fortnightly Club for over 40 years. Minnie's children would like to express their gratitude for the loving care she was provided by the "Ladies" of Colonial Hill Retirement Center in Johnson City. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at St. Johns Episcopal Church, 500 N Roan St, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service.
