Hiawatha, Kansas. Wednesday, December 23, 1914
Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Allen, of near Powhattan, went to the home of Mrs. Allen's father, Peter Williams, to spend the evening. They took along their three months old son, Lyle Edward. The little one had been accustomed to sleeping in a room with a fire. When Mrs. Allen put the baby to bed in the Williams home whe wrapped it carefully so that it would not feel the cold. At 4 o'clock in the morning she went to take care for the little one and found her baby dead. The child had evidently been smothered by the bed clothes.
