Helen D. Adams
Helen D. Adams, 86, a resident of 118 North 15th Street, Centerville, died Friday, May 2 at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Centerville.
Born Sept. 26, 1912 in Omaha, Missouri, she was the daughter of Henry F. and Sarah (Stokes) Davis. She was married July 3, 1941 in Unionville, Missouri to Phillip Adams, who survives.
Mrs. Adams was retired from the office force at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was a member of the Drake Avenue Christian Church, past president and department chaplin of
American Legion Auxiliary, a member of the Eagle's Auxiliary, a member of the White Shrine and Daughters of the Nile and served for 10 years as Easter Seals County Chairman.
Besides her husband, Phil, she is survived by two sisters, Northa Orlando of Hammond, Indiana and Hilda Opperman of Udell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two half-sisters and one step-brother.
The funeral will be Monday, May 5 at 1:30 p.m. from the Drake Avenue Christian Church with Rev. Charles Livingston officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Family visitation at the Johnson Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. Sunday evening. Memorials have been established to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital.
Friends may call at the funeral home until noon Monday.
