At an early age the family moved to Louisville. Roberta attended the Louisville Public School System, graduating from Central High School, Class of 1954. She continued her education by attending several universities obtaining her Associate and B. A. degrees in Early Childhood Education Development. After 35 years of dedicated teaching service Roberta retired from The Jefferson County Headstart Program.
Roberta was a lifelong member of the Methodist congregation and currently a member of Coke Memorial United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband James E. Baines.
Roberta (Mommie) leaves to cherish her sweet memories sister, Delores Richardson; children, Shellyse, Janean, Deborah (Nathaniel), James, Jr. (Glynis) and Brandia (Winfred); thirteen grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great- granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
