Helen Kathleen Winegar Cox 70, of 209 West Virginia Manor, Bluefield, formerly of Bastian, died Tuesday, March 14, 1995, at her residence. She was born in Scott County,and was the daughter of the late John M. Winegar, Sr., and Callie Owens Winegar. She moved to Bastian, in 1927 and then to Double Gates, Bluefield, in 1963. She was a graduate of Lee College and ret ired from Tazewell County School Board, after 30 years with the Bland and Tazewell School System. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Bluefield Church of God on Highland Avenue, Bluefield, where she serrved as an Assistant Pianist. She served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Mercer County Economic Opportunity Corporation, where she served as Treasurer. She is surveved by; one daughter, Mrs. Sam (Donna) Brown; one sons, Harlan Cox, both of Bastian; six granchildren, John and Marcus Brown, Bastian, Jennifer L. Danner, Max Meadows, Chris Brown, Bastian, Nathan and Hannah Cox, Bastian; one great-grandchild, Austin Brown, B astian; two sisters, Margaret J. Whisman, Cleveland, Tenn., Helen Hyde, Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, John M. Winegar, Jr., Kingsport, Tenn., Rev. Herb Winegar, Dingless, W. Va. Funeral services will be held Thursday, march 16, 1995, at 2 p.m. at the Bastian Union Church with the Rev. Herb Winegar officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Bluefield. The family will receive friends at the Bastian Union Church from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 1995. Newberry Funeral Home in Bland, is in charge of the arrangements.
