Clifford was born Clifford Warren near Mansfield, MN. His biological father was killed in a hunting accident. He and his sister, Blanche, were adopted by William and Emma Russell.

Services for Clifford Russell, 85, were held March 23 at the Mason Funeral Home, Winner, with Rev. Bert VanEssen officiating. Burial was in the Colome Cemetery.

Russell was born Jan. 14, 1904, at Mansfield, Ill., and died March 21 at the Winner Nursing Home.

In 1907 he was adopted by William and Emma Russell at Fonda, Iowa, where he attended rural school. In 1913 moved to a farm south of Colome where he finished his 8th grade of education.

On March 21, 1939, he married Carrie Urban and they moved to Winner in 1941. He was a route driver for many years for Omaha Cold Storage and later worked as a carpenter and did furniture upholstery.

Survivors include his sister, Maxine Harris of Sherman, Texas; sister-in-law, Emma Spinar of Winner; two half-sisters, Ann Shield of Rock Island, Ill., and Hazel Hodges of Ellettesville, Ind. and half-brother, William Bryant of Davenport, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Blanche Musilek, Dorthy and Catherine; two half-sisters and four half-brothers.
