Major League Baseball Team Executive. His career in baseball was varied, as he started out as a peanut vendor and by 1915 was named the first general manager of the Chicago White Sox, remaining in that position until 1945. In 1946 he went over to the Cleveland Indians at owner Bill Veeck's behest as a vice-president and minority owner. He was the father of film actress June Travis.
