Dorothy W. Earley AHOSKIE - Dorothy Williams Earley, 91, of the 600 Block of Stokes St. in Ahoskie died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011 at Guardian Care of Ahoskie. She was born Dec. 11, 1919 in Elizabeth City to the late William W. Williams and Mary Morgan Williams. She was the wife of the late Willard P. Earley. She worked for Belk Department Store for several years and was a member of Ahoskie Freewill Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. in the Ashley Memorial Chapel at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie. The Rev. Joseph Futrell and the Rev. Robert May will officiate. Burial will be private. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jean Tinkham of Houston, Jane Newsome and husband Bob of Winton and Joan Oster and husband Tom of Paducah, Ky.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Powell; and four brothers, Bill, Ed, Bruce and Earl Williams. The family will receive friends following the service at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie and other times at the home of her daughter Jane Newsome. Memorials may be made to Chowan University, One University Place, Murfreesboro, NC, 27855 or to the charity or church of one's choice.
