Mrs. James J. Allen
Levantia Brown, wife of Jame sJ. Allen, died at her home in Middlefield Sunday at 12 o'clock. She was born October 15. 1831. She married James J. Allen Nov. 9, 1854 and died July 31, 1904, aged 72 years, 9 months, 16 days. Besides her husband, one son Erastus Allen, and two granddaughters, Mrs. Floyd T. pitts and Miss Marjorie Allen all of this place survive her. Also two brothers, Edgar Brown of Middlefield and Loren Brown of Binghamton, two sisters Mrs. D.H. Pitts of Middlefield and Mrs. W.H. Collins of Cooperstown. She had been in failing health for a long time but was only confined to her bed for about two weeks before her death. A devoted wife and mother, beloved and respected by all who knew her, was a faithful member of the Baptist Church in this village for a number of years. The funeral was held from her late residence Tuesday afternoon at 8 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. B.m. Posten, pastor of the Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. T.J. Vaughn of M.E. Church. Interment was in the family plot in our village cemetery. - Farmer Reporter.
