Funeral for Edwin O. Carlson, 114 SE 44th Ave., will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gable Funeral Home. Mr. Carlson died March 11 in a Portland hospital following a long illness. Born near Rocky Butte in Portland Sept. 23, 1894, Mr. Carlson resided all his life in this area. During World War I he served on the Battleship Oregon with the Navy. Part of his war service was overseas. He was a self-taught safety engineer for more than 30 years, and was self-employed until his illness. In earlier years, Mr. Carlson had been an ardent amateur photographer and at one time motorcycle endurance run rider for the Indian Motorcycle Company. Survivors include the widow, Margaret of Portland; two daughters, Frances E. Duvall of Los Angeles, and Mildred Olson of Gresham; a sister, Hildur Lindsay of Portland; and five grandchildren. Interment will be in Rose City Cemetery.
