Louise Bobbitt Anders, 74, of Independence, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at her home. She was the widow of Walker M. Anders, and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Baker. She was born Aug. 10, 1925, in Independence, to Bill Bobbitt and Josie Hash Bobbitt. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Gayle and Emma Lee Anders, Larry and Nancy Anders, Jimmie Anders and Tommy and Roxanne Anders, all of Independence; a daughter, Mirian A. Palacio of Sparta, N.C.; a stepson and spouse, Leonard and Katherine Anders of Sparta, N.C.; three stepdaughters and spouses, Hazel and Ted Wright of Independence, Faye Kilby of Galax and Juanita and Olin Shaffer of Churchville, Md.; a brother, Staley Bobbitt of Independence; two half brothers, Jack Bobbitt of Woodbridge and Scott Bobbitt of Sparta, N.C.; a stepsisters, Mary Ruth Bobbitt of Independence; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; several great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Monday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with burial in the Independence Cemetery. The Revs. Claude Holderfield and Fred E. Jennings officiated. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the Independence Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 607, Independence, Va. 24348.
