Member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition 1803-1806. He served as gunsmith, blacksmith, and hunter for the explorers, and helped John Shields keep the groups' weapons in working order. Inscription reads "Went with Lewis and Clark in 1804 to the Rocky Mountains."
