Erma E. Black, 84, died Friday November 1, 2013 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday November 4, 2013 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Erma Evelyn Sterner was born March 24, 1929 in Atalissa, Iowa the daughter of George and Florence Aye Sterner. She was a graduate of Atalissa High School in the Class of 1947. On March 19, 1951 she was united in marriage to Robert Black in Muscatine, Iowa.
She has been employed with Gene Mitchell Trucking, West Liberty State Bank and also did Daycare in her home. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of the West Liberty Country Club. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, Chicago sports teams and traveling to casinos.
Survivors include her son Rob (Connie) Black of Atalissa. Four grandchildren: Abe Black of Muscatine, Miranda (Ben) Palmer of West Branch, Maggie (Ethan) Krob of Tipton and Sam (Jared) Anderson of Yates City, Illinois. Great grandchildren: Simon, Oliver, August and Frances Palmer, Greta and Matilda Krob and Lou Anderson. 4 brothers: Dean (Delores) Sterner of Springfield, Missouri, Raymond (Ruth) Sterner of Davenport, Iowa, Ronnie (Carol) Sterner of Eldridge, Iowa and Darel (Donna Fae) Sterner of West Liberty.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1989.
