In a street fight at San Augustine, on the 4th, sheriff Noel Roberts was wounded and his two brothers, Sid Roberts and F.G. Roberts, were killed. The tragedy was the sequel to an old fued between the Wall and Roberts faction and the Brooks and Borders faction. The Stonefort Rifles of Nacogdoches were ordered to the scene.
