Mrs. Leffie Bedford Funeral Held at Bethel Alliance Church

Funeral services for Mrs. Leffie B. Bedford, 89, of Lyle, were held October 20 at Bethel Alliance church in Lyle with the Rev. Dennis Becker officiating.

Leffie Belle Bedford was born on the Anderson homestead, Deer Creek township, Worth county, Iowa August 11, 1894, the daughter of Oscar Amos Anderson and Melva Belle (McConnell) Anderson.

At the age of two her parents moved to Rockton, Ill. and then moved back to Lyle when she was 12. March 15, 1916 she married Frank Erastus Bedford at the home of her parents in Lyle. Two daughters were born to them.

After having spent three years on the Bedford homestead farming and five years in DeVonia, iowa where they operated a grocery story and truck line. In 1928 they moved back to the family home in Lyle where she resided until the time of her death.

Mrs. Bedford was an active member of the Woodbury Willing Workers association, and also was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary of which she helped to organize in Lyle. She was affiliated with the Bethel Alliance church in Lyle.

Mrs. Bedford is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Blanche) Greiner and Mrs. Russell (Helen) Ashley, both of Austin, Minn. and their husbands; also seven grandchildren, four step grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant brother, her husband, and one infant grandson.

Burial was in Woodbury cemetery with Rev. Becker in charge of the committal services.
