Kenneth Bell Jr., 67, passed away on October 15, 2013 after a brief illness. Ken was an Army veteran serving in Viet Nam. He was a board member of Tri county Viet Nam Veterans, member of Sheehy Palmer Post 6776 VFW, president and vice president for CSEA Units B&C, Town of Bethlehem committeeman. Ken retired in 2003 as a foreman with the Latham Water District. Ken loved to be and work in nature, whether in the woods working or enjoying the many deer, turkey and other wildlife. His love of life and his family was to be admired. Ken is the husband of Darlene Bell; father of April and Tyler Springer; grandfather of Savannah Springer; son-in-law of Marie Tompkins; brother-in-law of Ed and Charmaine Tompkins and the late Leonard Tompkins; uncle of Ed and Heather Tompkins, and Crystal and Adam Cole; brother of Jeanne Kelley of Fla. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Durant Funeral Home, 741 Delaware Ave., Delmar. Fr. Jonathan E. Gray will preside. Friends may call Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions in Ken's name may be made to the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204. -
